Student Work

Throughout the year, our students will have the opportunity to express their ideas through original works. Check back occasionally to read samples of their work!

You

by Solomon

Young or old,

loving or hating,

giving or taking,

you are still you!!!!

You can be anything you want to be,

a doctor, a lawyer,

a builder or a scientist,

you can be anything

you want to

because you are just you.

You can live in

or on

anything you want to,

an apartment,

a house,

on a boat,

or even in a yellow submarine

You can live in

or on

anything you want to

because your are just you

and only you.

You can drive anything

you want to

a minivan,

a Volvo,

an emergency vehicle,

or even a tractor

You can drive anything

you want to

because you are just you

and only you

You are you,

a one-of-a-kind,

an individual

No one in the world

is just like you

Because you

are just you!

Autobiographical Poems

Students read the poem, I Am by Ruth Lago and learned a great deal about who Ruth was by using reading strategies to analyze it. They then wrote their own I Am poems using the structure and format of Ruth's poem as their outline. What can you tell about our students, based on their poems?
