In an effort to incorporate the Responsive Classroom structure, which suggests recess before lunch, our third grade lunch does not begin until 1:40. Our school has also lost eligibility to be in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Subsequently, we are attempting to provide a snack time of our own to help tide the children over until lunchtime. We are asking that families donate healthy snacks to share with the class each week.
Here’s what to do:
1. Sign up here for the week that you would like to send in snacks. Just choose an available week that works for you and enter your name and your child’s name in the corresponding slot.
2. Buy snacks that our class can share each day during your assigned week. There are 24 kids in our class and each child should be able to receive the same snack for that day. Please read food labels. Snacks should be nut-free and low in fat and sugar. Some ideas might include goldfish, graham crackers, Nilla wafers, animal crackers, pretzel rods, other crackers, etc.
3. Send the donated snacks to school by the Friday morning before your assigned week.
Thank you for your support in our students’ learning! Please contact us if you have any questions.
