MPS Back to School Guidance 2020-21

Dear MPS families,

As you may have heard, all Minneapolis Public Schools are beginning the school year with distance learning. Protecting the health and safety of our students, families and staff is our top priority. We will transition to in-person learning once the rates of COVID-19 decline significantly in Minneapolis and surrounding communities.
To help you prepare for the start of the school year, we have some essential information for you to review. All this information is provided in this Back to School Guide as well as on our website. We will continue to share information with you on what you can expect for the new school year as it becomes available.

School starts:

  • Grades 1-12 and Transition Plus: Tue., September 8 
  • Prekindergarten and Kindergarten: Thurs., September 10

Stay connected: Update your PHONE, ADDRESS and EMAIL

Now more than ever, it’s critical that families make sure your school has your most recent contact information. Before school starts, please make sure and call your school if there are any changes to your child’s home address or your phone number or email.

All MPS schools use SchoolMessenger to share important information about weather closures, building safety, school events, transportation and more.
